It is written in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Occitan_language\" target=\"_blank\">Occitan<\/a>, a language of southern France, from the 14th century, and has a number of images which remind me of parts of\u00c2\u00a0the Voynich, including the illustration on this page, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bl.uk\/catalogues\/illuminatedmanuscripts\/ILLUMINBig.ASP?size=big&amp;IllID=43224\" target=\"_blank\">which comes from here<\/a> <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"https:\/\/gampingkec.slemankab.go.id\/%ed%95%9c%ea%b5%ad%ec%96%b4-%ec%b1%85-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">Korean book<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The manuscript\u00c2\u00a0is called <strong>Royal 19 C.I<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bl.uk\/catalogues\/illuminatedmanuscripts\/record.asp?MSID=8564&amp;CollID=16&amp;NStart=190301\" target=\"_blank\">can be found in full here<\/a> <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"http:\/\/elearning.stikestelogorejo.ac.id\/2020\/02\/06\/%ed%95%9c%ea%b5%ad%ec%98%81%ed%99%94-%ec%95%94%ec%82%b4-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">Download The Assassination of Korean Movie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the images which are most striking are these:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bl.uk\/catalogues\/illuminatedmanuscripts\/ILLUMIN.ASP?Size=mid&amp;IllID=43207\" target=\"_blank\">f34v, the universe<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(Click on it to enlarge it) <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"https:\/\/www.allnew.com.au\/%eb%b0%94%eb%8b%b7%eb%a7%88%ec%9d%84-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9d%b4%ec%96%b4%eb%a6%ac-%ec%98%81%ed%99%94-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">Sea Village Diary movie<\/a>. I love the angels turning the universe with a crank system.<\/li>\n<li>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bl.uk\/catalogues\/illuminatedmanuscripts\/ILLUMIN.ASP?Size=mid&amp;IllID=43223\" target=\"_blank\">f37, Zodiac wheel<\/a>, with interestingly different versions of names <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"http:\/\/dobranovica.si\/%ec%84%9c%eb%93%a0-%ec%96%b4%ed%83%9d-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">Sudden Attack<\/a>. &#8220;Taur&#8221; is there. If the Voynich manuscript were written in, say, some variant of a Romance language such as Occitan <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hamiltonbmx.co.nz\/%ec%98%81%ec%9b%85%ec%9d%98%ea%b2%80%eb%a6%ac%ed%84%b4%ec%a6%88-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">\uc601\uc6c5\uc758\uac80\ub9ac\ud134\uc988 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. it would look sufficiently close to Latin to seem familiar in places (as the Voynich does) but yet far enough away to stop us easily understanding it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_zodiac.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1297\" src=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_zodiac-300x273.jpg\" alt=\"occitan_zodiac\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_zodiac-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_zodiac.jpg 314w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Another version of the manuscript can be found here: <a href=\"http:\/\/gallica.bnf.fr\/ark:\/12148\/btv1b84192477\/f1.planchecontact\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/gallica.bnf.fr\/ark:\/12148\/btv1b84192477\/f1.planchecontact<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>I also found a reference <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/lebreviaridamor01ermeuoft#page\/146\/mode\/2up\" target=\"_blank\">in the translation which\u00c2\u00a0Marco mentioned<\/a>, on page 147, of benign and malignant stars:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_bad_stars.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1301\" src=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_bad_stars.jpg\" alt=\"occitan_bad_stars\" width=\"314\" height=\"134\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_bad_stars.jpg 314w, https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_bad_stars-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 314px) 100vw, 314px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wonder if this explains the black and white centre colourings of some stars in the Voynich, for example <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasondavies.com\/voynich\/#f68r1_f68r2_f68r3\/0.06\/0.583\/5.00\" target=\"_blank\">on page f68r<\/a>? Is there a list of benign and malignant stars anywhere?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Also, who are the [presumably] astrologers referred to in this text &#8211; &#8220;Beda and Mizael&#8221;? Is the first one a reference to Veda, the Indian tradition which also has benign and malignant stars?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also been examining the Seasons pages:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bl.uk\/catalogues\/illuminatedmanuscripts\/ILLUMIN.ASP?Size=mid&amp;IllID=43240\" target=\"_blank\">British Library one<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/lebreviaridamor01ermeuoft#page\/n359\/mode\/2up\" target=\"_blank\">Transliteration\u00c2\u00a0(from a \u00c2\u00a0different manuscript)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_seasons.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1303\" src=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_seasons.jpg\" alt=\"occitan_seasons\" width=\"508\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_seasons.jpg 508w, https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/occitan_seasons-300x241.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 508px) 100vw, 508px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The words seem to me to be:<\/p>\n<p>LEFT: <strong>p [r] mav [r] a<\/strong> = spring. Note that the two &#8216;r&#8217; letters are\u00c2\u00a0indicated by marks\u00c2\u00a0above the preceding consonants. Note also\u00c2\u00a0the absence\u00c2\u00a0of the first vowel<\/p>\n<p>(in the illustration <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/lebreviaridamor01ermeuoft#page\/n359\/mode\/2up\" target=\"_blank\">in the transcribed manuscript\u00c2\u00a0<\/a>spring is on the right and\u00c2\u00a0seems to be <strong>p [r] mavera)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TOP: <strong>ivern<\/strong> = winter\u00c2\u00a0(in the illustration <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/lebreviaridamor01ermeuoft#page\/n359\/mode\/2up\" target=\"_blank\">in the transcribed manuscript\u00c2\u00a0<\/a>it seems to be the same, but placed at the bottom<strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>RIGHT: <strong>ataimnus<\/strong> ?\u00c2\u00a0(in the illustration <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/lebreviaridamor01ermeuoft#page\/n359\/mode\/2up\" target=\"_blank\">in the transcribed manuscript\u00c2\u00a0<\/a>it is on the left and seems to be <strong>auptup[m]ne ?)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>BOTTOM:\u00c2\u00a0<strong>estieu <\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(in the illustration <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/lebreviaridamor01ermeuoft#page\/n359\/mode\/2up\" target=\"_blank\">in the transcribed manuscript\u00c2\u00a0<\/a>it is on the top\u00c2\u00a0and seems to be <strong>estiu<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>However, the transcription has a footnote saying that in some manuscripts the labels are misplaced.
