The proposed analysis makes extensive use of a diagram from a XII Century Latin \u00e2\u20ac\u0153compendium\u00e2\u20ac\u009d based on Bede, recently linked by Stephen (Walters Ms Popular in the 2000s and downloads<\/a>. W.73 f1v);

The Compendium diagram presents twelve winds, giving for each of them one or two names shoutcast \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>.
\n7 of the 12 sections of Voynich f68r1 can be connected to Bede\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s diagram.<\/p>\n

I have also considered an Arabic diagram that features heavily corrupted variants of the Greek and Latin names that appear in the Compendium (the Book of Curiosity, XIII Century, Bodley MS cp2102 \ub4dc\ub77c\uc774\ubc84<\/a>. Arab. c. 90, f21b):

\nThe Arabic manuscript seems to confirm a few of the attributions based on the Compendium \uc62c\ub9ac \ub514\ubc84\uac70 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. I based on it a possible identification for an eighth wind as a particularly bad corruption from one of the winds of the Compendium (\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Boreas\u00e2\u20ac\u009d) lg usb<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For the remaining four winds, I propose two hypothesis based on ancient Greek wind names, one on a different Arabic wind name and one on the Spanish cardinal direction \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcsur\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Master Of Sabu Young Chun Kwon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I read EVA \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 as \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcu\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, on the basis of T H Ing\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s analysis<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>that suggests the possible equivalence of EVA \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and EVA \u00e2\u20ac\u02dca\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 \ub300\uba85\ub9ac\uc870\ud2b8 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>.
\nI read the other characters following Stephen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s proposals (but I may have gotten something wrong).<\/p>\n

A few of the matches are quite poor, but I think it is interesting that they are mostly based on a single source \uc2a4\ud0c0 \uc778\uacf5\uc9c0\ub2a5 \uc0ac\uc774\ub2e4 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>.
\nI read the diagram clockwise: South, East, North, West. The Compendium diagram reads in the opposite direction (as modern maps do), so in the image it is mirror imaged and rotated. The Arabic diagram (being conflated with a representation of the Zodiac) reads in the opposite direction than the Compendium: it reads in the same direction that I assume in the Voynich diagram. The Arabic diagram also has an orientation similar to what I assume here (West at the top).<\/p>\n
