However, this website has largely been taken over\u00c2\u00a0by discussion of the Voynich manuscript<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(VM) \uc5f0\uc560\uc911 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In response to requests, however, let me here set\u00c2\u00a0out in brief where I currently stand on the Voynich manuscript (VM).<\/p>\n

Not a hoax, and probably not a cipher<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Before my 2014 paper many people who had researched it\u00c2\u00a0for years believed the manuscript to be either a sort of code\/cipher, or a hoax mssql 2012 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. I do not believe it is a hoax (see here<\/a>).\u00c2\u00a0I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t consider it alchemical, nor diabolical, and probably not a mysterious cipher designed to conceal knowledge \ud154\ub808\uadf8\ub7a8 pc \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. My work was attacked rather aggressively by some who hold particular views, such as Nick Pelling here<\/a>, who believes it to be a cipher or code designed to conceal knowledge, and you can see my response here<\/a> Download cinema 4d r16<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I accept the carbon dating evidence which suggests that the manuscript was produced in the early 15th century, and the ink analysis which found nothing to contradict a 15th century date tribler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With apologies to conspiracy theorists, I (boringly) consider the VM most probably to be an attempt at an encyclopedia or \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcsumma\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 aiming to encompass contemporary knowledge of plants, astrology\/astronomy and related areas, exactly as the wonderful Occitan manuscript which I discuss here<\/a> does \uc708\ub3c4\uc6b0 \ub77c\uc774\ube0c \uba54\uc77c 2011 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was probably intended for a specific linguistic community, for which the script was specially devised. In my view the script had probably been developed previously, not solely for this manuscript, but if so,\u00c2\u00a0evidence of that development is now lost \ub9ac\ub205\uc2a4 \uc6b4\uc601\uccb4\uc81c \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. In short, the VM\u00c2\u00a0just happens to be in a script we cannot yet decipher, but is probably in a language which is known or can be reconstructed.<\/p>\n

My approach is to work on it carefully and with an open mind, mainly on the linguistic elements of the script and language, but taking account of other research on the imagery, without any preconceived ideas about where it came from or its genre.<\/p>\n

My current view is that the manuscript was possibly\u00c2\u00a0written by or for a community in eastern Europe, the Caucasus, or western Asia\u00c2\u00a0– sorry not to be more specific – and has the traces\u00c2\u00a0of Arabic, Persian. Mongol, Indian ideas and even language which\u00c2\u00a0would not be\u00c2\u00a0unexpected or surprising at the time in, say, the area of the Black Sea, the Caucasus or eastern Turkey.<\/p>\n
