{"id":2063,"date":"2017-09-15T16:13:22","date_gmt":"2017-09-15T15:13:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/?p=2063"},"modified":"2017-09-15T16:16:35","modified_gmt":"2017-09-15T15:16:35","slug":"the-voynich-lost-language-theory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephenbax.net\/?p=2063","title":{"rendered":"The Voynich: lost language theory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One possible explanation of the Voynich manuscript&#8217;s mysterious script and underlying language &#8211; a view which I find plausible &#8211; is that the script was devised for a particular community, possibly to write down an already existing language, and then that script was lost to us, with the exception of the Voynich manuscript <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.up2m.pkr.ac.id\/2020\/02\/08\/visual-studio-c-2010-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">visual studio c++ 2010 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Just such an example has just been uncovered, as can be seen in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smart-news\/long-lost-languages-found-manuscripts-egyptian-monastery-180964698\/\">this report from the Smithsonian magazine<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smart-news\/long-lost-languages-found-manuscripts-egyptian-monastery-180964698\/\">http:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smart-news\/long-lost-languages-found-manuscripts-egyptian-monastery-180964698\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In essence, researchers have been examining old manuscripts housed at St Catherine&#8217;s monastery in Egypt which were palimpsests &#8211; pages from which older writing had been erased and newer writing added in order to reuse the scarce parchment <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"http:\/\/teatras.vdu.lt\/naujienos\/%eb%a6%ac%ed%8b%80-%ed%94%84%eb%a6%b0%ec%84%b8%ec%8a%a4-%ec%86%8c%ed%94%bc%ec%95%84-%ec%8b%a0%eb%b9%84%ed%95%9c-%ec%84%ac-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">\ub9ac\ud2c0 \ud504\ub9b0\uc138\uc2a4 \uc18c\ud53c\uc544 \uc2e0\ube44\ud55c \uc12c \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. They then used various techniques to view the older text which had been partially erased and hidden.<\/p>\n<p>As the article says: <em>&#8220;perhaps the most intriguing finds are the manuscripts written in obscure languages that fell out of use many centuries ago <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thesarasotarealestatecompany.com\/chrome-32bit-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">chrome 32bit<\/a>. Two of the erased texts, for instance, were inked in Caucasian Albanian, a language spoken by Christians in what is now Azerbaijan. According to Sarah Laskow of Atlas Obscura, Caucasian Albanian only exists today in a few stone inscriptions <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"https:\/\/selfie-deluxe.de\/%ec%9d%b4%ec%a0%a0%ec%95%88%eb%85%95-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">Now hello download<\/a>. &#8230;&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Other hidden texts were written in a defunct dialect known as Christian Palestinian Aramaic, a mix of Syriac and Greek, which was discontinued in the 13th century only to be rediscovered by scholars in the 18th century <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"https:\/\/pariwisata.slemankab.go.id\/2020\/02\/06\/%ed%8f%ac%ed%86%a0%ec%83%b5-%ec%89%90%ec%9d%b4%ed%94%84-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">\ud3ec\ud1a0\uc0f5 \uc250\uc774\ud504 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153This was an entire community of people who had a literature, art, and spirituality,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Phelps tells Gray. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Almost all of that has been lost, yet their cultural DNA exists in our culture today <a class=\"eaffe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vascumed.co.za\/%ea%b8%b0%ec%83%9d%ec%88%98-%ec%98%a4%ed%94%84%eb%8b%9d-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">Parasit opening download<\/a>.
